Once again., congratulations to Kristy Bowen for the announcement of the tentative release date of her latest book entitled Girl Show. It will be available in December of 2009. That's her 3rd release in as many years proving she's been super busy writing her own work while publishing and promoting the work of her fellow poets. Simply amazing.

Thank You

I don't know if she still bothers to read this, but I was just thinking about how I never took the time to properly thank Kristy Bowen for helping throw a beautiful bridal shower for me last weekend. I was truly amazed and overwhelmed by all of the work and attention to detail she and my aunt used in order to make the day so perfect for me. It was much more than I could ever hope for from anyone.

I don't care what one person has to say about her, she's one of the most generous and caring people I know.

I was quite happy to hear yesterday that Kristy will be attending Printers Ball after all. It's good to know that DGP will be represented as it should be and that she will not let the intimidation tactics of one person worried about the size of his e-penis stop her. If I were her, I would avoid this person like the plague, but I heard she will be surrounded by much support and there will be excellent security throughout the event. I hope she has a wonderful time. You can find more information about the event listed at the awesome Chicago Poetry Calendar.

It's Actually Not about Hate at All

This site is dedicated to poet and editor of Dancing Girl Press, Kristy Bowen. She's my sister, best friend, and maid of honor in my upcoming wedding. She's the hardest worker I know: Running the web zine Wicked Alice, Dancing Girl Press, her own online shop, authoring the books The Fever Almanac and In the Bird Museum, and earning her MFA, all while working a full time job and funding her projects out of her own pocket. Her passion for the arts is incredible and no words can describe how proud I am to be associated with her.

Not only is she an exceptionally talented poet, she is also an amazing person. Anyone who takes the time to get to know her can attest that she might be shy and a little quiet at first, but she's one of the most real people you'll ever meet. Her trademark sarcasm and snarkiness is hysterical, but always intended in fun. She is one of the most unselfish women I know, helping me at times by literally giving me the shirt off her back or her couch for the night. If you love Joss Whedon, Rum-n-Coke's, and horror movies, she'll be your best friend for life.

Don't believe any of the recent negativity being spewed forth by her self-proclaimed enemies in the poetry scene. I know the real Kristy.

To those who disagree, just remember that when you're fucking with her, you're really fucking with her, me, my fiance, my friends, and all of the women in our large, extended family. We don't let things go that easily.
